CAR FREE DAY – VANCOUVER 2009
Well it’s time to give the car a rest for the day and head down to Commercial drive – can’t beat walking around in the streets eating ethnic food and listening to a storm of drummers slam away in the hot sun. This is crazy! Creative Recs are my FAVE show brand besides my Uncles (SHOUT OUT FLUEVOGS), so I flipped when I read this on High Snobiety today:
Believe it or not Edmonton, Alberta’s (MY HOMETOWN) premier streetwear boutique Foosh is celebrating their 10th year in business. Among other items and events, Foosh has worked with footwear label Creative Recreation on the popular Cesario Hi. Taking inspiration from the colors of local Edmonton Oilers NHL franchise, the shoes are made up in blue, orange and white. Paying homage to the glory days of Wayne Gretzky, and coincidentally the shop’s opening year, the Foosh Cesario’s feature an embroidered “99″ on the heel. Sooooooooooooooooooo, Shout outs to Justin (the owner)! I’ve known that guy forevs and my Grandma used to drop tons of cash spoiling me at that place (It was the only store that sold X-LARGE shit).

We mentioned and previewed our new upcoming MSTRKRFT REMIX on the air. Yeah, it was super raw, but we’ve been too busy jammin’ wit Sherry at Greenhouse. DON’T WORRY!! It will be finished in the next week. PUT EM HIGH!
In normal remix situations, we take the vocal track and completely trash the original song, re-writing and playing a brand new musical arrangment ourselves (WAY MORE FUN)

This is our last remix done for K-OS. As you can see, the music is much more enticing and exciting than the orginal (do the research)…..
In the case of the MSTRKRFT remix however, we decided to maintain the feel of the original while adding new elements and most importantly writing a brand new vocal melody for Farshad to SING ! Stay tuned, it will be finished shortly…..

I once managed a videogame store in West Edmonton Mall for this old Jewish guy who was obsessed with Roy Wood (the guy that got kicked out of ELO after only one album).
He looks like he would be fun to JAM with…..After he was kicked out of ELO, he got back at his bandmates by forming WIZZARD!
I constantly was forced to listen to this record while working. It’s actually kinda good.

Pro Tools VS Logic Pro 8 – ALL ABOUT WORKFLOW!
As a long-term Pro Tools user, I’ve lately found myself working out of a studio that swears by Apple’s Logic Pro 8. Now, I ‘m not trying to open up a can of worms here, but it’s time to bring up the whole “Pro Tools VS Logic” debate. In my view, as both programs are pretty crazy , I think the final decision ultimately rests upon workflow. For SEX-ED, we’ve managed to create an efficient method with Pro Tools as the central heart. We’ve incorporated a small rack of hardware, several software plug-in’s, and various live recording applications to make magic happen. Now, I’ll admit that our system may appear more complicated that an all ‘in the box’ solution, but its simply a different way of getting things done – best of all, we’ve never felt restricted creatively and the process remains enjoyable. Naturally, Logic users will argue that with a larger pallet of options (available cheap!) and slick integration, production becomes easier. They also rave about the high quality sound engine and plug-in’s. Well, whether or not the claims are true, I’m going to take it upon myself to find out…. how else can one really make up their mind? I’ve read a multitude of arguments, technical and creative, fighting for one program over the other. However, I’m thinking that after some testing, we’ll find a way to incorporate the best of both worlds (even if it’s in a small way) …. just have to learn some new short-cuts lol! Nonetheless, I’d love to see what other people think (preferable users who have experience with both apps!). I’ve included 2 promo videos for each… maybe they’ll fuel some emotion :P OH! And let’s remember, no matter what side of the fence you sit on, let’s not be moopsters about this (see below – creativity busters).
