Have you ever stopped and wondered what goes into a song lyrically? As someone who is writing lyrics constantly, I have been striving to master the art of conjuring up memorable verbalism….
So what’s better? Shallow super simple catchy lyrics, or overly descriptive forgettable phrases?
Let’s do some lyrical comparisons.
I think it’s safe to say that Bob Dylan probably goes down in history as having some of the best lyrics ever.
Bob Dylan was first hailed as a writer of protest anthems, and burst onto the scene with one of his most famous songs….something that people (lyrically ) got behind in the 1960′s. The times they are a changin”
This is prolly my fave verse -
Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don’t criticize

Now let’s compare him to his contemporary. Someone who could probably get as many people in a stadium….Akon
Akon is from Afirica, and he was “Locked Up”. If anyone knows hardships and cultural divide, it would be Akon.
Check out the lyrics from one of his more embraced records, “Smack That”
I think lyrically, the song really shines in the pre-chorus:
I feel you creeping on, I can see you from my shadow
Wanna jump up in my Lamborghini Gallardo
Maybe go to my place and just kick it like tai-bo
and possibly bend you over
It drives home the point that anyone up against a cultural barrier can overcome, without compromising ones integrity.
What song is more fun to sing in the mall while shopping for socks?

So I decided to stop cutting my hair a little while ago, and I think I’ve officially entered that super awkward phase where I’m beginning to look like a disaster. Luckily, I’ve accepted this as a necessary step in the process, and am okay with it. Go to hell Farshad….I don’t care what you think.
It is kinda cool to wake up in the morning and not have any idea how it’s going to turn out. It’s the prefect element of surprise to start your day! It got me thinking tho…who else looks like a Troll Doll?
“You’re in trouble mister!”
Then, I started thinking about people who just look like things in general….
or
I actually believe it’s “spiritually enlightening” that MJ looks like a historical Egyptian sphynx.
Alas, my favorite would have to be Posh Spice….just because Falcor is the FLYEST dog ever (Get It!!??)
They just don’t make kids movies like they used to ….

Sometimes it’s not easy to be motivated! In fact, certain days can leave you lazy with no direction. I HATE that feeling. Sometimes you need to re-motivate yourself…
In these cases, it’s good to remind yourself what your goal is. You can also mentally re-visit the steps to help you accomplish it.
No procrastination! You need to get up and live every day like it’s your last!

I wish I was old enough in the 90′s to date and hang out with a black chick. Everyone I grew up with was white….(lame)
My girlfriend would probably have looked like one of these girls.
We would of kicked it to some flyy tracks, like the Ghosttown DJ’s
She would have been “my boo”.
We could spend our afternoons together….I would braid her hair, and “love her down”
Then, we’d light some candles and throw on “Shorty Swing My Way”
She’d be all like, “Damn boy, you sooo crazy”
