  • WHAT’S IN A KISS?

    2010 - 06.16

Although it can take many different forms and reflect a variety of different emotions, the kiss dates back to the beginning of human history.

The first time I ever kissed a girl was in Grade 7. It was at the West Edmonton Mall Waterpark during a splendid game of Truth or Dare.

It wasn’t like a REAL kiss. It was super G rated and innocent. But it got me thinking…

Have you ever dumped/stopped liking somone because they sucked at kissing?

This was something I legitimately used to worry about! If only cuz I couldn’t figure out what actually defined a good kiss. Of course everyone is completely different when it comes to experience and preference…

I take issue with a few things, but here is a list of kissing tips I stole from some website:

    1. Keep your lips moistened. Dry lips do not make for good kisses. (this one is obvious)

    2. Don’t forget to angle your head. You don’t want to end up bumping noses, that ruins the moment. Trust me. (I knew a girl that was actually into this. She thought it was funny…)

    3. Close your eyes. Looking someone dead in the eye while they kiss you can sometimes kill the mood. (Agreed)

    4. Explore with your tongue. Just like anything in life, you don’t want it to be boring. Remember, a hard tongue is a huge turnoff. (I think this is the first sign a new kisser. You gotta keep it flexible, soft, and fluid.)

    5. Go slow. Some things in life just have to be taken slow. This is one of them. (Not always – it depends on the mood)

    6. Mix it up. Get away from the ordinary, try small kisses first, then go for the big one. (Dynamics is really important I think…I agree with this)

    7. Read body language. See how the other person is reacting to your kisses. Use that to adjust. (well said)

    8. Try to develop your own style. Become unique at this. Don’t be like the other person they kissed. (I’m not sure how you’d know what the previous person was like, but it is cool to develop your own style –  and the only way to do that is to make out with LOTS of people).

    9. Definitely do not want to bump teeth. Teeth are very sensitive. It’s not only awkward, it hurts too. (I knew another girl who was totally into this too!)

    10. Last but not least, don’t forget to breathe! Probably the most important part, you don’t want to pass out during your smooch. Unless of course you literally want your breath taken away by your partner :).

I wonder if the guy who wrote this is a good kisser? Do you declare yourself amazing, or do a number of people have to confirm it for you?

Whatever the case, I hope some of these tips helped.
