IS METAL THE MOST UNINTENTIONALLY HILARIOUS MUSIC GENRE?

I used to play in punk/metal bands all the time growing up in Edmonton. It’s arguably the most fun music to play on drums cuz you basically get to rock out as hard/fast as possible. As much as it shaped my drumming style early on, I soon began to out grow the cookie monster vocals, super low tuned guitars and rediculous dance moves.
Currently, I don’t think I can listen to any new metal bands without laughing my ass off.
For example, this band called Confide is covering The Postal Service classic “Such Great Heights”. As soon as the vocals and band kick in, I start laughing uncontrollably. Is metal unintentionally the most hilarious genre!?
Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE DOUBLE KICK as much as the next guy, but has it run it’s course? How much more innovation can the genre endure?
Will metal ever return to its former glory?

WORST GAME EVER!

Today, Jay and I were talking about classic Sega games we played as kids.
For some reason, I instantly remembered Awesome Possum; probably the worst game ever. You play as an environmentalist possum trying to clean up garbage while avoiding robots with chainsaws. All you can do is jump….you don’t even have any attacks!
Despite it’s shortcomings, it sported an unforgettable start screen that lies close to my heart.
The craziest thing is that Jay already had it on his laptop…..

I saw this movie when I was 18. I think it changed my life.
It’s kinda weird to think that Roger Ebert WROTE it.
The editing style is the probably the most incredible thing. Its totally manic! If it were a real person it would be prescribed medication.
I wish I were alive in the 70′s to party.

Wow, I feel like we’re “this close” to emerging from underneath a giant sized boulder! Recently, it seems we’ve spent every waking second holed up in our studio MIXING our magnum opus DIRTY RADIO.
For those who don’t know, mixing is when you take everything you’ve recorded and make it blend together to create the final listening experience song by song. It basically means you have to kill that shit or go home.
We are “this close” to being done.
We are “this close” to a Lobster Dinner and a bottle of champagne.
I am “this close” to shaving my beard.

Every once in a while, you are put in a situation where you have to “keep it real”.
These decisions are noteworthy in the scheme of life because they could potentially affect the outcome of the path you’re currently pursuing. It’s not always easy to “keep it real”, and can sometimes be a very tough or unpopular choice.
An important thing to remember is that you are being true to yourself! Never compromise your integrity.
The easiest path may not always be the best, and the grind to the top is what makes reaching it so incredible.
